Goings-On

We went to church with a friend on Sunday morning and ran into a girl from my SIP class from ye olden college days. It was a little surreal. And then we got a lunch invitation from the dear Wykoffs (one of my cousins, her husband's family).

We make it a practice to never turn down food.

It was such a wonderful afternoon. Madeline totally hit it off with Mandy, and the kids all had a good time together. The girls even twisted Madeline up in the swing and let 'er fly. I really could not believe how fast she was whipping around. I was sure she was going to be sick.

"Can I do it again?!"

And also there was chocolate cake. See? Good day.

Later yesterday evening we hung out at the playground with peanut butter and jellies and even more friends. I can't believe how much cooler it is here than it's been up North where we came from. There was even a coolish breeze. Definitely abnormal for a July evening in the South.

Today I ran some errands and scrubbed the life out of my kitchen floor. You really do not want to know how bad it was. I could eat off it now (not that I would).

And then, being the social butterflies that we are, we had dinner tonight over at another home of (different) close friends. Delicious, as usual.

And more chocolate cake.

Oh, and quality coffee.

(Decaf.)

It's been so much fun to catch up with people, in person. Lots of things feel exactly the same (it's only been a year). Other things are totally different (it's been a whole year!).

Good to be back.

I am so surprised to hear you say it's cooler in the south than the north! That's crazy, but I know you're not complaining!

Glad you're getting to catch up with friends. I'm sure they love it that you're back!

It's so nice to hear that you're getting acclimated! And I like your practices. Turning down food is a definite no-no. :-)

Sounds like you're having a WARM welcome home! And friends-and-food are so nice when your own place is still finding its equilibrium!

I am happy to hear you are getting reaquainted with all of your old friends. I know how much you missed your church, play groups, luncheons, dinners, dessert night, and all of the other fun events you had. It's times like these that we have to cherish. Having friends and family around is what is most important. I truly am so happy for you that you are back "HOME".
